A major function of TAME is to provide technical advice and guidance to teams in the Highways England Major Projects directorate concerning the traffic modelling, traffic forecasting and economic assessment of schemes costing more than £10m. In addition, to providing advice and guidance, members of TAME act as Appraisal Certification Officers (ACOs).
