The purpose of this preliminary mining ground investigation is to provide initial information relating to the possible presence of underground mine-workings which may influence the design of the proposed scheme. Specific objectives are to: • Identify the thickness and type of superficial deposits overlying rockhead; • Establish the elevations and condition of coal seams, seat-earths and/or mineworkings at specific key asset locations within the site; • Establish geotechnical properties of the rock sequence; • Establish groundwater conditions within the rock sequence. The factual report produced by this investigation will form part of a tender package to a design and build Contractor. (See Section 1.8 of 'B2029702/GI-SPEC \| 02' on 'The Chest North West Portal' for details of required timescales).
