Currently a number of significant engineering issues exist. These fundamentally affect its ability to safely and effectively provide standby power for operations. In addition these issues, compounded by inadequate planning during the original design and installation, make verification of the SPE's ability to restart and sustain radar operation difficult. Consequently in the event of main power failure, the correct and safe operation of the SPE under radar load cannot be assured.
