This was done in accordance with the Foundation's marketing and communications plan. The Foundation is funded by government to collect workforce data from the Further Education (FE) sector, in order to give access to valuable and useful workforce data to policy makers and the sector itself. This is known as the Staff Individualised Record (SIR) data collection. Prior to 2016, data was collected at individual staff contract level from colleges through a bespoke SIR system, whilst summary data was collected from other parts of the FE sector through a summary workforce data survey.
