This will form the basis of the £500m Single Investment Fund over the period to 2020/21. The Combined Authority is adopting a Mayoral model, with the first elected City Region Mayor elected on 5 May 2017. Following the completion of the Area Based Review of post-16 education and training, the Combined Authority is now seeking to develop and publish a local skills strategy for the City Region. It is intended that this strategy will provide a robust evidence base and clear set of actions that, once implemented, will ensure that education and training institutions are better informed on the skills that employers require, are better placed to deliver them and that the City Region creates the right conditions for these skills to be delivered.
