The wharf has been modified over the years and sections of sheet piling have been replaced and new sections added. However there remains two original sheet piled areas installed in the late 1950's, to the Northern end of the wharf approximately 26m in length and 142m at the Southern end. The remedial works relate to these two lengths of wharf frontage. The pile sections here have deteriorated over time and extensive corrosion particularly to the top of the piles has been recorded.
