City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is the leading acute healthcare provider in Sunderland, operating from Sunderland Royal Hospital, Eye Infirmary and the Children's Centre. Providing a wide range of hospital services to a local community of around 350,000 residents along with an increasing range of more specialised services provided to patients outside this area, in some cases to a population as great as 860,000. Our patients are treated in clean, comfortable surroundings with privacy and dignity. ### Service City Hospitals Sunderland is reviewing the requirements of specialist theatre areas for an Advanced Surgical Energy device and the associated products. This requirement is inclusive of but not exclusive of the following specialist areas: • General Surgery including Colorectal and Bariatric procedures; • Gynaecology; • Urology; and • ENT Spend in this area was valued at approximately £1.2 million over the last 12 months across the whole of the Trust, with 700 procedures carried out in General Surgery and Urology using this form of equipment. The Trust is looking to confirm a clear strategy of the type of products currently available in this developing field and to ensure continuity of compliance with current legislation. The devices to be considered would be used in Endoscopic procedures and the brief is to include the consumables and other associated products as well as the generators themselves. The Trust is looking to hold a market engagement event on the morning of Friday 9th September 2016 to allow the various specialist clinical staff to view equipment by attendee companies. To express an interest and to attend this event please contact e-mail by the deadline of 22 August 2016. The structure of this event will be to allow for a small presentation of 5-10 minutes depending on the number of attendees by each of the companies on a rolling loop to account for differing staff availability during the morning. This presentation should be focused on the clinical benefits of company’s equipment and not present commercial information. Slots within the process will be allocated on a random basis. As well as the presentation we are asking for availability of demonstration equipment to be made available in a communal room where clinical staff can view and examine the equipment on an informal basis. The communal space is not to be a trade stand and company staff will be limited to technical staff as deemed fit.
