Soil decompaction services are required in order to improve the drainage, quality and rooting environment of soil surrounding the base of mature trees. Decompaction must minimise the damage to arboreal root systems. Services may be required in the central parks, namely: St James’s Park, The Green Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and The Regent’s Park. The contractor will have facilities to decompact approximately 20,000m2 annually; with the capacity to complete 2000m2/day. Services will be required in the months of January or February between the hours of 07:00 until dusk as requested by TRP. An appropriate soil decompaction technique will include: • A probe to penetrate soil vertically to a minimum of 1m depth to inject compressed air to fracture and fissure compacted soil. • The injection of a treatment medium to enhance soil quality, fill fractures & retain permeability of the soil structure. • The backfilling of probe holes with a suitable water-retaining material to retain permeability of the soil structure. • The spacing of no more than 2m between probe sites.
