The Authority recognises that all children and young people, whatever their circumstance or abilities, should be able to participate in and enjoy physical education (PE) and sport, whilst experiencing the benefits of leading a physically active lifestyle. The benefits of regular involvement in sport and exercise are well documented (i.e. pupil concentration and self-esteem, leading to higher attendance, attainment and behaviour, improved fitness levels and physical health, participation in elite sport and competition).
