The Faculty of Engineering and the Environment is a world leader in the development of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) for research purposes and as teaching tools. As one of the eight centres the University of Southampton is looking to extend its research by operating a variety of unmanned systems which cover land, sea and air. Operations of UAV must comply with the Air Navigation Order and subordinate CAA regulations with the consequence that Beyond Visual Range (BVR) operations are restricted to an extent that impacts adversely on the development of long-range systems. The Faculty envisages mounting the guidance and control elements of a long-range UAV system in a Light Aeroplane (LA) so that the capabilities of the equipment can be exercised over distances, and ranges from base, representative of the intended use. The University of Southampton is seeking to procure: - Lot 1 Light Aeroplane - Lot 2 Light Aeroplane Trailer The full details of the technical specification/s can be found in the ITT.
