For marine litter this includes the OSPAR Beach Litter Monitoring Programme. This monitoring programme helps meet the legal requirements of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) to monitor litter on beach/coastal zones. Given the transboundary nature of marine litter, the UK is coordinating its approach at the regional sea level.
