The 2016 parade will carry a Nautical theme linking with the 150 th anniversary of South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade. South Tyneside has a rich maritime heritage which includes the Romans, the invention of the lifeboat, shipbuilding and currently the successful operations of the Port Of Tyne.
