This project has been part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), and a number of opportunities will arise around both construction and provision of technical equipment for various laboratories. A requirement now exists in the School of Computing, Science & Engineering to procure a learning system to enable undergraduate engineering students to develop the skills associated with control system programming. This equipment will typically include a control engineering programming software package and a USB data acquisition board capable of providing a selection of inputs and outputs through which a wide variety devices and sensors can be readily connected and controlled. The lowest value has been declared at £25,000 but the University does not know at this stage what the actual value might be.
