The project will be carried out as part of a national programme of surveys of the archaeology, historic buildings and landscape and of England’s historic towns and cities. The project of Leicestershire and Rutland Extensive Urban Survey (EUS) is an initiative led by the Historic England (HE). Its key aim is to evaluate and characterise the urban historic environment within the study area and to provide comprehensive and consistent base-line information against which land use planning, regeneration and research objectives may be set.
