This will ensure both British based and offshore gambling operators taking bets on British racing contribute to its costs. In order to ensure the new Right complies with European law, a detailed economic analysis of the funding of horseracing by the betting industry is needed. Therefore the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) invited tenders for a contract for services: an economic analysis of the funding of horseracing. The primary purpose of this work is to analyse and quantify the existing direct and indirect flows of funding from betting to racing.
