The new Public Health responsibility for Local Authorities includes the commissioning of the Public Health services for children aged 0-19 as part of the Healthy Child Programme. The Healthy Child Programme is the key universal programme available to all children, young people and their families. Its main aims are to reduce inequalities; ensure that every child gets the good start they need; ensure that children and young people fulfil their potential and grow into healthy adults. The new integrated Public Health service for children and young people aged 0-19 will deliver strong universal provision and work towards early identification of problems to ensure additional support is offered.
