The Five Year Forward View starts the move towards a different NHS, recognising the challenges and outlining potential solutions to the big questions facing health and care services in England. It defines the framework for further detailed planning about how the NHS needs to evolve over the next five years. The overall objective is to improve services for patient’s right across the spectrum of urgent and emergency care and identify potential solutions. The CCG are working towards developing joined up urgent care services which will focus on: • Helping people look after themselves • Helping those with urgent care needs to access the right advice or treatment in the right place, first time • Providing a highly responsive urgent care service outside of hospital so people have a range of alternatives to A&E • Providing responsive, personalised services in, or as close as possible to people’s homes • Providing consistent high quality care seven days per week The contracting authority will develop the service model to incorporate the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, specifically: • How what is proposed to be procured might improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the relevant area. (Area is the geographic area for which the procurement is taking place) • How, in conducting the process of procurement, it might act with a view to securing the improvement.
