We are seeking a commercially developed system to facilitate the process of recording students' attendance through the use of: Fixed smartcard proximity scanners, to be installed at or near the entrance to all relevant teaching venues. Multiple scanners will be installed in larger venues. The University would consider any type of acquisition device - for example, dedicated smartcard readers (powered via mains or over Ethernet), tablets, etc Mobile smartcard scanners for occasional use, for example to record examination attendance (in venues where fixed scanners are not available) or attendance at events held off-site The scope of this requirement is: Supply and installation of approximately 400 smartcard scanners. The University will provide the network point and electric power in the lecture rooms as required. Supply and commissioning of 50 mobile scanners to register attendance and necessary software to transfer data from the scanners to the software solution. Supply and installation of a software solution which will store all scan data (including date/time, location/scanner ID, smartcard number) from fixed scanners in (or close to) real time, with associated data interface to allow integration with the existing SAMS systems.
