This prompted further investigations and a structural assessment of all lath and plaster ceilings throughout the school. The assessment concluded that remedial works were required to stabilise the ceilings and prevent further collapse. To further compound the issue, an asbestos survey identified contamination within the loft spaces resulting from historic mechanical and electrical installation works. This project represents the first phase of a long-term programme of works aimed at providing a safe environment for the school's occupants and those responsible for maintaining the building in the future.
