We aim to ensure that when the right to an independent lifestyle, autonomy and liberty are at risk, the individual concerned receives appropriate help including advice, protection and support from relevant agencies, in particular Independent Professional Advocacy. Access to independent professional advocacy is recognised as contributing to health and social care policy goals such as health improvement, equity and involving individuals as partners in a mutual NHS and social care setting.
