The implementation will enable continuous, real-time information to the train driver’s cab, enabling more responsive, reliable, and safer train operations. ETCS enables trains to run closer together, safely and to travel at their optimal speeds. To implement ETCS, it requires changes to signalling infrastructure. For passengers, this means fewer delays, increased capacity, and a more resilient service. For operators, it offers reduced costs, streamlined renewals, and a modernised approach to managing the network.
