The service will align with the national Stopping the Start Strategy and Derbyshire County Council Public Health Strategic Plan. The service will support pupils aged 12 and over who wish to stop smoking, vaping, or both. It will be informed by best practice in line with NICE guideline NICE NG209, and delivered by certified National Centre Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT) stop smoking practitioners embedded within the school community. Delivery will include effective partnership working to avoid duplication and enhance existing prevention activity. The Youth Vaping and Smoking Cessation Service will commence on 01 September 2026 for a period of 2 years to 31 August 2028. Subject to available funding and successful delivery of Phase 1 and evaluation, the Council may at is discretion approve delivery of Phase 2 for year 3 from 01 September 2028 to 31 August 2029.
