The need for intervention is driven by: •preservation of the building fabric and prevention of long-term decay •removal of biological growth and harmful pollutants; •ensuring the building remains safe, structurally sound, and aesthetically appropriate; and •compliance with heritage management duties for a Grade A listed asset. The project includes cleaning the front elevation of Parliament Buildings, portico, tower, kerbs, steps, dwarf walls and architectural detailing, excluding areas expressly omitted in the specification. Repointing to approximately 10% of joints is anticipated following cleaning.
