This service is commissioned in response to local need and priorities. It forms a key part of our approach to ending homelessness for young families in Bury - Lot 2 - 20units = £750k + (Estimated) - Lot 3 16 and 17 Year olds Accommodation and Support Service Bury Council has a duty to accommodate 16 and 17 year olds under section 20 or section 17 of the Children Act 1989. 1.2 A child accommodated under section 20 becomes a 'looked-after' child. The local authority is responsible for them as corporate parent, and has a duty to monitor their health, education and care. Their accommodation must be regulated and registered with Ofsted. These duties and safeguards do not exist for children accommodated under section 17.
