[Rail Safety Standards Board (RSSB)](https://tendernation.io/buyers/rail-safety-standards-board-rssb) Estimated value £250,000 Published 31 Oct 2025 Deadline Rolling deadline ## Who can bid - Open procedure Anyone can submit a full tender; there is no shortlisting stage. ## About this tender RSSB has recently published the procurement project T1379: Validation and enhancement of train driver psychometric assessment, selection, and recruitment for modern train operations in GB Rail. The appointed supplier will research aims to conduct a comprehensive validation study of the train driver selection process that is used in GB Rail by all rail companies that employ mainline train drivers. This covers passenger operators, freight operators and infrastructure contractors. It will focus on both the standardised and non-standardised elements of train driver selection and be separated into two distinct phases. We consider a phase distinction to be important given the fundamental differences that exist between the two elements of train driver selection and the required outputs for each. There will be a stage gate review between phase 1 and phase 2 to enable review and reflection of the findings and recommendations, considering any additions or adaptions to phase 2 before commencement. Further information on the specification for the T1379 project can be found in the attached specifications. Prospective tenderers are invited to join an online (Microsoft Teams) suppliers information event ONLINE (Microsoft Teams) 14:00 – 15:00 Thursday 6th November 2025. This will consist of presentations about the project from the RSSB project team and technical leads (approximately 60 minutes) with a Q&A session (up to 60 minutes). Prospective tenderers are strongly encouraged to attend the event if they can. If you are seeking to attend the suppliers information event, please could you email the names of your attendee’s by the end of Wednesday 5th November 2025.
