The research project is seeking to explore the inequalities faced by women road users (in vehicles, as drivers and passengers, as pedestrians, on two wheels) and the challenges they face around the current and future use of roads and to identify ways to improve safety and confidence for women road users and help reduce women killed and seriously injured on the road. There are current data gaps about the gendered breakdown of the profile of people involved in road traffic collisions, the impact on their behaviour, ongoing and future confidence of road users, specifically women both younger and older. The research project would seek to identify ways to address these issues informed by the direct experience of women road users in Greater Manchester.
