The primary purpose of this Green Belt Assessment is to identify which parts of the Green Belt may be suitable for release. This would include identifying both previously developed land within the Green Belt and Grey Belt. Where land is recommended to be defined as previously developed and/or Grey Belt, a subsequent assessment will be required to determine the extent to which (if at all) the site should be re-categorised as Metropolitan Open Land or Local Open Space.
