The Care Act requires local authorities to provide high quality care and support services to help vulnerable people to live their day-to-day life. Medway Council typically does this by commissioning suitably registered care providers to deliver this on its behalf to residents who meet the eligibility criteria. A residential care home provides accommodation and 24-hour personal care and support to people who find it difficult to manage activities of daily living at home. Residential care homes provide residents with a safe place where they are looked after according to their needs. This typically includes help with washing, dressing, toileting, administering medication and mobility. The purpose of a residential care home is to ensure people who cannot live independently are well looked after and continue to lead meaningful lives.
