His Majesty's Revenue and Customs ("HMRC") are considering obtaining the capability for this (the "new digital service") from a third-party software supplier. HMRC analysis shows that taxpayers (especially those under the Making Tax Digital (MTD) for ITSA threshold) would benefit from greater support to understand and meet their tax obligations; this need cannot be met by HMRC's existing offer, and ITSA taxpayers will therefore be provided with a new digital service embedded in the HMRC app. HMRC are considering launching a procurement procedure in summer 2025.
