The Council has a number of strategic aims in its Local Housing Strategy document “Housing Matters”, which aims to encourage housing led regeneration and provide a good quality living environment which promotes health, wellbeing and independence for residents. Significant investment in mandatory DFG’s (Disabled Facilities Grant) and other discretionary housing grants supports this strategy. Currently the Private Sector Housing Unit provide assistance to over 2200 properties a year, either via grant aid or the installation of minor works of adaptation.
