As an integral part of a programme of works called Our Masterplan, the building will form the critical connection between the existing museum halls and enhance the connectivity of the spaces. The design is ambitious, elegant and has sustainability at its heart. The building incorporates an 800sq m exhibition gallery, the museum’s main shop and café and improved visitor facilities. Included within the proposal are designs for the western landscape including a public pedestrian route from east to west through the site, a new services access road and accessible parking.
