The Community Buddy Scheme enables children and young people with a disability or additional needs, to access their local community or support them to take part in activities or groups of their choosing within their local community. The support given by a Community Buddy enables a child or young person to experience their community or an activity/club without their parent or carer. Accessing the community can take many different forms and could include (but is not limited to); shopping, exploring public transport or making use of community spaces such as parks.
