We treat the sludge using advanced anaerobic digestion technologies and biogas is produced which we currently use as a renewable fuel in combined heat & power (CHP) engines. To support our net zero 2030 plans our intention is to transition our CHP fleet over to biogas upgrading to biomethane for grid injection or other beneficial use. Our base plan is to switch our sites at Cottonvalley (Milton Keynes), Gt Billing (Northampton) & Whitlingham (Norwich) to biomethane and would consider the option to accelerate our transition across our other STC sites.
