Overall condition of the causeway is poor and is regularly subject to flooding during high tidal events. Restraint barriers are also in poor condition and offer no appreciable restraint to vehicle strike. Proposal is to replace the existing approach embankments and culvert with a raised double track section of road and provide a new tidal culvert.
