The pipeline forms part of the wider HyNet scheme, whose primary objective is to reduce the regional CO2 omissions. The pipeline will provide a hydrogen transportation network required to enable the UK's first fully integrated hydrogen supply network. It is anticipated that there will be approximately 90km of new underground HP steel pipeline and 35km of associated customer connection spurs from 10 new Hydrogen Above Ground Installations (HAGI's). The project will deliver Phase 2 of the hydrogen network and is designed to enable early adopters to receive hydrogen and interlinks with hydrogen production and storage facilities. Cadent is looking to identify a economic operator, which may include a joint venture or consortium to deliver the full EPCC contract.
