The new station will deliver improved journey times to Preston and Blackpool and provide access to rail transport for commuter travel to jobs, business and leisure. It will also reduce congestion into Preston City Centre by providing a park and ride facility. The improved rail access will also support the delivery of new homes in north- west Preston providing a rail service to a catchment area of around 12000 homes and will connect to the new Preston Western Distributor road scheme which is currently under construction.
