We see extra care as an important part of our offer to older people in the Borough, enabling older people to live as independently as possible in the community, with care and support provided on site and tailored to individual’s needs and preferences through a person centred, strengths-based approach. We want our extra care schemes to be a part of an engaging and lively community in Barking and Dagenham, with activities that are directed by, and co-produced with the residents who live there and where schemes work closely with facilities and organisations in the Borough to ensure that schemes have robust connections to their locality.
