DHC currently leads a consortium of nine local authority archive services working together to access a digital preservation system. The Consortium seeks to procure an active digital preservation system which mitigates risks to digital information requiring long-term or permanent preservation. The Service Specification outlines our collective requirements for a digital preservation system which we require to be fully functioning June 2022. Digital preservation refers to the series of managed activities necessary to ensure continued access to digital materials for as long as necessary, beyond the limits of media failure or technological and organisational change.
