The provision supports hospital avoidance and discharge, and can reduce the need for social care support by enabling individuals and their carers to better manage their conditions and maintain their independence within the community. Community equipment provision includes items such as adjustable electric beds and pressure care mattresses, hoists and commodes. The equipment is provided free to the service user and is prescribed by health or social care professionals.
