There is a requirement for each Force to have access to a Force Medical Advisor (FMA). In addition to the provision of an FMA service there is also a requirement (in some participating forces) for Occupational Health Nurse and Nurse Advisors. In urgent (perhaps life threatening) cases the Force may appoint the FMA to act as SMP to consider the question of permanent disability.
