This model was seen as one of the success stories of collegiate ways of working during the pandemic. Part of this success was the setting up of an interim ACC transfer service to aid load levelling. Even though cases are reducing it is recognised, both nationally and regionally, that there is a lasting need to have a dedicated critical care transfer service to ensure patient safety and efficient running of critical care units.
